The Privilege of Prayer

by George Stroh

January 3, 2022

I love the Lord, because He hears My voice and my supplications. Because He has inclined His ear to me. Therefore I shall call upon Him as long as I live. (Psalm 116:1, 2)

The privilege of prayer is one of the most cherished privileges we have been given by God. As children of the living God, we can come to him at any time with our prayers and supplications. We don’t need an appointment and there is no need for any intermediaries; With all prayer and petition pray at all times… (Ephesians 6:28)

As our heavenly Father, we can come to Him in prayer about everything, knowing that He always hears our prayers and always answers according to what is best for us; Be anxious for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. (Philippians 4:6)

Even when we don’t know God’s will or how we should pray, He wants us to come to Him and promises that the Holy Spirit will intercede for us according to His will; In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. (Romans 8:26, 27)

As believers saved by faith alone in the finished work of Christ alone, we have been granted the exclusive privilege of prayer. God is our advocate, protector and provider. Why would we not come to Him in prayer at all times and about all things; What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things? (Romans 8:31, 32)
