Waiting for the Lord
By George Stroh
January 26, 2015

Wait for the Lord; Be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes wait for the Lord! (Psalm 27:14)

There is an old joke about a fellow who was complaining to a friend about all of his troubles. His friend said, "Stop complaining... Things could be a lot worse." So he stopped complaining and, sure enough, things got a lot worse!

Everyone eventually has some adversity in his or her life. Yes... some seem to have a disproportionate share of adversity, but none of us are totally immune from trouble. Often when things are going well, we take the credit and when things are not going well, God gets the blame. Rather than complaining and blaming God, Solomon counseled; "In the day of prosperity be happy, But in the day of adversity consider-- God has made the one as well as the other..." (Ecclesiastes 7:14)

Each day, Christians need to remember that God loves us, He knows our situation, He knows our weaknesses and He causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28) It is our responsibility to wait for the Lord. And waiting for the Lord means trusting and obeying Him.

Trust and obey...

For there is no other way

To be happy in Jesus

Than to trust and obey.

Waiting for the Lord, trusting Him and yielding to His will can be frightening, difficult and contrary to our human logic and understanding. But we walk by faith, not by sight. (2 Corinthians 5:7) Maranatha!
