Aliens and Strangers

Beloved, I urge you as aliens and strangers to abstain from fleshly lusts which wage war against the soul. (1 Peter 2:11)
My wife, Linda, and I started to watch the 2014 Grammy Awards on TV last night. This show is supposed to be about awards for outstanding achievements in the music industry. But two minutes into the show we couldn't take anymore and turned it off. It was seemingly more about outstanding moral and spiritual perversions than outstanding achievements in music. I read this morning that even some people who usually admire and love these so called celebrities and their music, were shocked and offended by the blatant sexual simulations, homosexual veneration, and ungodly, demonic performances.
Sadly, it is not really surprising that deceived and sinful unbelievers who have rejected God and His word, would openly manifest such depravity; And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper. (Romans 1:28) Christians, however, as aliens and strangers, need to abstain from fleshly lusts which wage war against the soul. Yes, we are in the world, but we are not of the world and we ought not to love the world. We are indeed the aliens and strangers in this world!
Unfortunately, the world is more and more resembling the ancient cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. And just like Sodom and Gomorrah, God will suddenly judge this ungodly world; Do not love the world nor the things in the world, If anyone loves the world, the love of the father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world. The world is passing away, and also its lusts;but the one who does the will of God lives forever. (1 John 2:15) Maranatha!
