God is in Control By George Stroh January 30, 2012
The king's heart is like channels of water in the hand of the Lord; He turns it wherever He wishes. (Proverbs 21:1)
I have no idea who will be the next President of the United States or whether the Democrats or Republicans will control congress next year. But I do know that whoever God chooses will be elected and that they are all subject to His sovereign will. Even in the midst of uncertain and confusing times, Christians can depend upon God's providential care; And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28)
As Christians, our child-like trust in and complete obedience to God should be the same whether we live today in the relative political freedom of the USA or if we happened to live under the harsh, dictatorial rule of the first century Roman empire. Wherever and whenever we live, God loves and protects His people and He is always in total control.
Yes, I do care who wins the elections and I appreciate the privilege we enjoy in America of voting for those who we believe would be the best to govern us. But regardless of who wins or loses the elections, God, who knows the hearts of all men, is, thankfully, in ultimate control; The king's heart is like channels of water in the hand of the Lord; He turns it wherever He wishes.
So we should have no fear of the future and have peace about everything, including the outcome of the elections, because we know that God is sovereign and that He loves us; Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful. (John 14:27) Maranatha!
