The Last of the Last Days

But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these. (2 Timothy 3:1-5)
The Apostle Paul warns that in the last days, Christians can expect more difficult days with increasing sinful behavior and unrighteousness in the world. Yet many people will claim to believe in God and continue to hold to a form of counterfeit godliness and religion, even while denying the person and work of our Lord Jesus Christ; And Jesus said to them, "Is this not the reason you are mistaken, that you do not understand the Scriptures or the power of God?" (Mark 12: 24)
We are living in the last days which began with the first coming of Jesus and many of us believe we are in the last of the last days. The world seems ripe and ready for the day of the Lord with the second coming of Jesus, the rapture of the Church, the seven year tribulation period, the Millennium Kingdom, and the new heavens and new earth; But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up. Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way, what sort of people ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness,... (2 Peter 3:10, 11b).
