End Time Mockers

Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts, and saying, "Where is the promise of His coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all continues just as it was from the beginning of creation." (2 Peter 3:3, 4)
A friend recently sent me an article about mega-church Pastors Rick Warren, Mark Driscoll, Brian McLaren, and other so called "New Spirituality" leaders who reject, even ridicule what the Bible teaches about the rapture of the church, and the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Rick Warren writes that the details of Jesus' return are none of our business; "When the disciples wanted to talk about prophecy, Jesus quickly switched the conversation to evangelism. He wanted them to concentrate on their mission in the world. He said in essence, "The details of My return are none of your business." (The Purpose Driven Life, p. 285)
Quoting Mark Driscoll; "Meanwhile, we spend most of our time trying to figure out how to avoid the pain and evil of this world while reading dumb books about the rapture just hoping to get out" (Vintage Jesus, p. 44)
Brian McLaren writes that we should not take the Book of Revelation seriously; "They (apocalyptic prophecies in the Book of Revelation) are no more to be taken literally than phrases we might read in the paper today." (The Secret Message of Jesus, p.178)
It is not really surprising that these and other false teachers have infiltrated the church, mocking teaching about the promised rapture of the church and second coming of Jesus Christ; But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who brought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves. (2 Peter 2:1)
Those who preach and teach nothing but prophecy are not fulfilling their biblical ministry and responsibility to carefully, accurately and diligently teach the full counsel of God's word. However, about a third of the bible is prophecy and those who ignore, reject and mock what the bible teaches about things to come, God will surely judge; And if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, which are written in this book. He who testifies to these things says, "Yes, I am coming quickly." Amen. Come Lord Jesus. Maranatha!
