Fake Christians

By George Stroh

February 17, 2018

So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth. (Revelation 3:16)

In His message to the Church at Laodicea, the Lord Jesus Christ sternly condemns and warns those who claim to be true believers who have diluted themselves but are, in reality, fake Christians. They are neither hot nor cold meaning that they are neither openly devoted to Jesus Christ or openly reject Him, but are simply false professors without true saving faith.

The Lord says that these fake Christians are even more distasteful to Him than those who openly reject Him and His saving gospel message. Even though they profess to be Christians and claim to be spiritually rich, and have become wealthy, and have need of nothing, they are in fact, by God's true evaluation, spiritually wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked. (Revelation 3:17)

Sadly, these fake Christians at the Church of Laodicea are representative of the vast majority of those who claim to be Christians today, but have never truly come to a saving faith in Jesus Christ alone; For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.

(Matthew 14:7)

Jesus, in His amazing mercy, grace and love, offers fake Christians the opportunity to become true Christians who have received, by faith alone, His imputed righteousness, salvation, and eternal life; I advise you to buy from Me gold refined by fire so that you may become rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself, and that the shame of your nakedness will not be revealed; and eye salve to anoint your eyes so that you may see. Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline; therefore be zealous and repent. (Revelation 3:18,19)

The Apostle Paul wrote; Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you-- unless indeed you fail the test. (2 Corinthians 13:5) Are you a fake Christian or a true Christian? Maranatha!
