He who testifies to things says, "Yes, I am coming quickly." Amen. Come Lord Jesus! (Revelation 22:20)
These last words of our Lord are recorded in the Revelation to John, the last book of the Bible. Every prophecy in the Bible regarding Jesus Christ's first coming was fulfilled exactly as originally prophesied and we can be confident in the promise of His second coming; They also said, "Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come in just the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven." (Acts 1:11)
There is no doubt that Jesus will return to earth someday. The question that Christians have had since His ascension into heaven almost 2,000 years ago is when will He return. Jesus instructed His disciples to pray for His return and the establishment of His promised kingdom on earth; "Pray, then, in this way; Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven. (Matthew 6:9, 10)
Concerning the second coming of Christ, the Apostle peter wrote, ...looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God... (2 Peter 2:12). In addition to looking for His return, can we actually hasten the second coming of Christ? I don't know. But He did tell us to be ready, to be praying for, and to be expecting His imminent return; "And Behold, I am coming quickly. Blessed is he who heeds the words of the prophecy of this book." (Revelation 22:7) Amen. Come Lord Jesus! Maranatha!
