Whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. (1 Corinthians 10:31)
God is indeed sovereign and always good; The Lord is righteous in all His ways and kind in all His deeds. (Psalm 245:17) Even our bad decisions don't frustrate His perfect plans and purposes. But our decisions in this life, both good and bad, have consequences.
As I look back on my life I realize that the decisions I made out of sinful motivations, what the Bible calls "deeds of the flesh" (see Galatians 5:19-21), always resulted in negative consequences. As Christians, we are commanded to make godly decisions, doing all things to the glory of God.
Of course, as humans, we also make seemingly wrong decisions with the right motivations, what the Bible calls "
fruit of the Spirit"
(see Galatians 5:22-23). But, thanks be to God,
who causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose!
(Romans 8:31)
Making godly decisions happens when we first decide to fully trust and obey God's word, seeking the guidance of the Holy Spirit and rejecting our fleshly desires; But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh. For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please. (Galatians 5:16-17)
Start right now making every decision, both the seemingly small ones, as well as the big decisions, to the glory of God so that you will know His peace and enjoy His abundant blessings. Maranatha!
