But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren ... (1 Thessalonians 4:13a)
The Lord Jesus Christ fulfilled over 300 very specific Old Testament Bible verses regarding the coming Jewish Messiah. His first coming to earth did not fulfill the prophecies about His eternal kingdom on earth and judgment, but to be the Savior; For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. (John3:17)
There are also over 300 New Testament Bible references regarding the second coming to earth of the Lord Jesus Christ.Approximately seven years before the Lord physically returns to earth, all true Christian believers will be caught up to Him in the air at what we know as the rapture of the Church; For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words.
(1 Thessalonians 4:17, 18)
His purpose for coming to earth this second time will not be to save but to judge unbelievers and establish His eternal kingdom on earth; And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war. (Revelation 19:11)The uninformed unbelievers mock and try to discredit the clear Bible prophecies promising the rapture and second coming of Jesus Christ; Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts and saying, "Where is the promise of His coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all continues just as it was from the beginning of creation." (2 Peter 3:3, 4)
Of course unbelieversreject, suppress, and mock most everything the Bible reveals. But I think the prophecies of the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ as king and judge is particularly threatening to unsaved sinners; For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, having been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. (Romans 1:18-20)
Unbelievers willingly remain biblically illiterate and uninformed about the truth that the resurrected Lord Jesus Christ will someday, possibly verysoon, return to earth. Our job as believers and ambassadors for Christ is to inform the uninformed of His coming judgment and the salvation He has provided.
