Our Limited Knowledge

By George Stroh

I saw every work of God. I concluded that man cannot discover the work which has been done under the sun. Even though man should seek laboriously, he will not discover; and though the wise man should say, "I know," he cannot discover. (Ecclesiastes 8:17)

It is good to seek as much knowledge, understanding and wisdom as we can about God and His will: The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; Fools despise wisdom and instruction. (Proverbs 1:7) But it is not God's intention that we understand everything He is doing; For we walk by faith, not by sight. (2 Corinthians 5:7) We often don't even know what we don't know, which can cause us to question and doubt God's ways; For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:8)

Keep seeking more of God's knowledge and wisdom; But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. (James 1:5) But even without full knowledge and clear understanding, we must obediently and humbly trust in the Lord and not lean on our own understanding. (Proverbs 3:5)
