I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well. (Psalm 139:14)
When I was younger, I took a lot of things for granted, including my good health. Someone once said, "If I'd known that I was going to live this long, I would have taken better care of myself!"
As we get older, our bodies are less resistant to diseases and it takes longer to recover from illnesses and injuries. If the Lord tarries, these perishable, but amazing bodies that God has made for us will eventually fail.
Physical death, however, is not the end of life for us Christians. Our spirits live on and God, who made our natural bodies, will someday resurrect them just as He resurrected the body of our Lord Jesus Christ; So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown a perishable body, it is raised an imperishable body; it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body. (1 Corinthians 15:42-44)
Like the Psalmist, we thank God for our lives and for our bodies; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. And we also thank Him knowing that our coming resurrected bodies will be even more glorious, imperishable and will never die! Maranatha!
