The Mind of Christ

By George Stroh

June 8, 2020

For who has known the mind of the Lord, that he will instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ. (1 Corinthians 2:16)

It can be frustrating and disheartening when, no matter how hard we try, unsaved family and friends refuse to believe the gospel and accept the free gift of salvation offered by God. The problem, of course, is that they don't have the mind of Christ. They are still spiritually blind and deaf sinners incapable of understanding the truth of God's word; But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised. (1 Corinthians 214)

We were also previously spiritually dead in our trespasses and sins (Ephesians 2:1). We heard and believed the gospel, not because we were wiser, more intelligent, better educated or more discerning, but because of the power God who called us; For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. (1 Corinthians 1:18)

So rather than being frustrated and disheartened when loved ones refuse to believe, remember that it is God alone who is able to give spiritual life, as well as, physical life; But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption, so that just as it is written, "Let him who boasts, boast in the Lord. (1 Corinthians 1:30)

Our responsibility is to faithfully keep proclaiming the gospel and praying for our family and friends that the Lord will someday also give them the mind of Christ. Brethren, my heart's desire and my prayer to God for them is for their salvation. (Romans 10:1)
