Christ Alone

Peter said to Him, "Lord, it is good for us to be here; if You wish, I will make three tabernacles here, one for You, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah." While he was still speaking, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and behold, a voice out of the cloud said, "His is My beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to Him!" (Matthew 17:5)
Why did the Jews hate Jesus so much that they insisted the Romans crucify Him? Everything He said was true. Everything He did was good, and He fulfilled all the prophecies concerning the coming Jewish Messiah. And yet he was, as Isaiah prophesied, hated by His own people; He was despised and forsaken of men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief; and like one from whom men hide their face. He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. (Isaiah 53:3)
The Jews, especially the Jewish religious leaders, hated him because He claimed to be the only Son of God, even equal to the God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob. He claimed to be superior to Moses and the prophets, and that salvation is by faith alone in Him alone; That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9)
Most religious people today continue to reject the biblical exclusivity of Christ alone. Like the first century Jewish religious leaders, they reject the biblical truth that faith alone in the gospel of Jesus Christ alone is the only acceptable worship of God. Like Cain, they want to worship God according to their religious traditions, their false doctrines, and their unacceptable offerings. But there is no other acceptable worship, no other way to God, no other truth, no other life, and no other plan of salvation; Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me." (John 14:6)
