Waiting for the Lord

By George Stroh

June 15, 2015

Wait for the Lord; Be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the Lord. (Psalm 27:14)

One of the hardest things for me to do, and I suspect also for many of you, is to wait for the Lord. I confess that I have made a lot of dumb decisions because of my impatience, failing to seek additional information (i.e. God's wisdom and His will) and not waiting for the Lord.

Often, we don't wait for the Lord or seek His wisdom out of fear... Fear of loss, fear of failure, or fear of continued suffering. Both our fear and our impatience is sin because we are really being impatient with our sovereign, loving God and ignoring His promises; And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28)

We need to learn to wait for the Lord and to seek His wisdom before making decisions; But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. (James 1:5)

It often doesn't feel like things are working together for good. Waiting for the Lord requires us to be strong and courageous and to blindly trust Him even though we don't see how things could possibly work together for good; For we walk by faith, not by sight. (1 Corinthians 5:)

God is good... He loves us. He has everything under control. We can trust Him. Wait for Him. Cease striving and know that I am God... (Psalm 46:10)  Maranatha!
