Calling Upon The Lord

By George Stroh

June 29, 2020

I love the Lord, because He hears my voice and my supplications. Because He has inclined His ear to me. Therefore I shall call upon Him as long as I live.

(Psalm 116:1, 2)

As Christians, we have the wonderful privilege and special blessing of prayer. God always hears and answers our prayers. But God only hears the prayers of the righteous, those who have the imputed righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ; For the eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous, and His ears attend to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil. (1 Peter 3:12)

We can come to the Lord in prayer about anything, at any time, and as often as we want; Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. (Philippians 4:6) The psalmist exclaimed his love for the Lord because he knew that the Lord would always hear his prayers. To love the Lord is to trust and obey Him; For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments... (1 John 5:3a)

Notice that the psalmist writes that the Lord hears my voice and my supplications. Because He has inclined His ear to me. The Lord desires a personal and intimate prayer relationship with you and me. Our prayers show our genuine devotion, our unwavering faith, trust and hope in Him, and our sincere love for Him; Therefore I shall call upon Him as long as I live.
