I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always offering prayer with joy in my every prayer for you all, in view of your participation in the gospel from the first day until now. For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.
(Philippians 1:3-6)
Our local Church is named Maranatha Bible Church because everything that we do is centered around the teaching of the Bible, the Word of God. We don't worship the pages of the Bible, but we do worship the God of the Bible and His Word; In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
(John 1:1)
One of my great joys as a Pastor, and I'm sure of most other Bible teachers, is the hunger our folks have for God's Word. I love to hear the pages of their Bibles turn as I'm teaching or preaching because it is His living word that changes lives; Teach me, O Lord, the way of Your statutes, And I shall observe it to the end. Give me understanding, that I may observe Your law and keep it with all my heart. Make me walk in the path of Your commandments, for I delight in it.
(Psalm 119:33-35)
By learning, meditating on, trusting and obeying God's Word, Christians grow and mature, becoming more and more conformed to ways and character of our Lord Jesus Christ. We learn what God loves and what He hates. We are convicted of sin, gain godly understanding and discernment. We are strengthen in our Christian walk, encouraged in righteousness, and blessed in every way; How sweet are Your words to my taste! Yes, sweeter than honey to my mouth! From Your precepts I get understanding; Therefore I hate every false way. (Psalm 119: 103-104)
