What God Says About Homosexuality
September 30, 2017
By George Stroh

Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? (1 Corinthians 6:9a)

In an unbelieving world that is biblically illiterate and therefore ignorant about the the truth of God's word, it is not surprising that the homosexual lifestyle and it's many perverse manifestations is becoming increasingly acceptable. Unbelievers naturally reject the judgments of God when His word conflicts with their personal beliefs. But even if everyone in the world agreed that homosexuality was acceptable, popular opinion would not change the fact that God says it is sin; May it never be! Rather, let God be found true, though every man be found a liar, as it is written: "That You may be justified in Your words, and prevail when You are judged."  (Romans 3:4)

People are easily deceived and tend to conform to current cultural mores. What is surprising and disturbing is that many so called Christians have rejected the truth of God's word that clearly says homosexuality is a sin. There are even some "churches" that not only accept homosexuality, but even promote what is an abomination to God; "Do not be deceived, neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the Kingdom of God." (1 Corinthians 6: 9,10)
As the Apostle Paul wrote, God will judge homosexuals. But Paul goes on in his letter to the Corinthians to explain that the sin of homosexuality, like every other sin, can be forgiven by God; "Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God." (1 Corinthians 6:11)

Neither evolving popular opinion nor the persuasive lies and distortions of false teachers changes God's truth. Homosexuality is sin and no one who practices sin will inherit the Kingdom of God. As Christians, we must refute those who deny God's word, calling what is evil good, and what is good evil; Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness; who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.  (Isaiah 5:20)

Both the Old and New Testament warn us that homosexuality is sinful. In Leviticus 18:22 God said, "You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination." And we read about the homosexual sins of Sodom and Gomorrah in Genesis chapter 19. In Romans chapter 1:26 we read; For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the women and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error. In 1 Timothy 1:10, the sin of homosexuality is listed among other ungodly, unholy and profane acts of sinners.
Yes, homosexuality is a sin. But praise God! Homosexuality, like every other sin can be repented by the sinner, forsaken and forgiven by faith in the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Maranatha!
