The Consequences of Sin

Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned-- (Romans 5:12)
Sin has consequences, deadly consequences. Because of sin, we begin to die the moment we are born; Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, And in sin my mother conceived me. (Psalm 51:5).
Because of sin there is all kinds of ungodly and unrighteous behavior in the world; And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper, being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; they are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful; and although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them.
(Romans 1:28-32)
The ultimate consequence of sin, of course, is not just physical death, which is the body separated from the spirit (see James 3:26), but spiritual death-- The spirit eternally consigned to hell and eternally separated from God; The wages of sin is death
... (Romans 6:23a).
Yes, sin has consequences. But praise the Lord, so does repentance of sin and faith in the gospel; But the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23b) Maranatha!
