Doctrines of Demons By George Stroh October 16, 2011 "But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons..." (1 Timothy 4:1) In recent days there have been a blitz of slick TV commercials produced by the Church of Latter Day Saints (the Mormon Church). These commercials try to promote the message that Mormonism is a mainstream Christian denomination and not a religious cult. We are to believe that Mormons are attractive, well spoken, biblically righteous people who are no different than any other Christians and should be accepted into the ecumenical Christian fellowship of true believers. The truth, however, is that Mormonism is indeed a religious cult that denies the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ. Despite their use of some Christian terminology, Mormonism teaches doctrines of demons. And millions following after these false teachers are on the broad road leading to destruction and eternal hell. This week we received a cordial letter from another cult, the Jehovah's Witnesses. They enclosed a very professionally done brochure entitled "Would You Like to Know the Truth?" But this brochure, rather than teaching truth, was full of lies-- doctrines of demons. Like the Mormons, the Jehovah Witnesses also deny the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ. Unfortunately, they also are on their way to an eternal hell... A hell that they deny even exists. As the Apostle Paul wrote, "...in later times some will fall away from the faith." There will be some who have heard, but then reject the true gospel and choose instead to believe doctrines of demons; "Take care, brethren, that there not be in any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart that falls away from the living God."(Hebrews 3:12) Unless they repent and believe the gospel, Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses and any others that deny the person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ will be judged by Him and justly sentenced to an eternal hell; "For in the case of those who have once been enlightened and have tasted of the heavenly gift and have been made partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the good word of God and powers of the age to come, and then have fallen away, it is impossible to renew them again to repentance, since they again crucify to themselves the Son of God and put Him to open shame." (Hebrews 6:4-6) As the time draws nearer for the return of our Lord and the rapture of His Church, we can expect more deception, these doctrines of demons, twisting the truth of God's word and trying, if possible, to deceive even the elect. When these doctrines of demons come, we must remain faithful to the truth and stay close to God; "But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting anxiously for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life." (Jude 20,21).Maranatha!
