Shalom?

They have healed the brokenness of My people superficially, saying, "Peace, peace," but there is no peace. (Jeremiah 6:14)
Today is election day in America. The candidates have assured us of positive changes, peace and prosperity if we elect them. But seeing what is going on around the world, as well as, right here at home, I'm not very optimistic that much will change regardless of who gets elected.
You see Jesus told us that this world is currently ruled by Satan and Satan lies about everything, including promises of lasting peace and prosperity; Now judgment is upon this world; now the ruler of this world will be cast out. (John 12:31) Not every politician is purposely lying to us, but most are being led by Satan, the father of lies and of liars.
Jeremiah spoke of God's people Israel when he wrote; They have healed the brokenness of My people superficially, saying; "Peace, peace," but there is no peace. Nothing has changed for Israel or the rest of the world. There is at times a "superficial" healing of the brokenness of mankind and a hope of a real and lasting peace on earth. But then the reality of sin and all sorts evil confirms that there is no real peace on earth today.
There will be no lasting peace and prosperity on earth until Jesus, the Prince of Peace returns. Until then, we can still have both peace with God and the peace of God thorough faith alone in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ; Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you; not as the world gives do I give you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful. (John 14:27) Shalom and Maranatha!
