Today, if you would hear His voice do not harden your hearts...
(Psalm 95:8)
As the old joke goes, "At my age, at least I no longer have to worry about dying young!" But the truth is that old or young, there are no promised days for any of us. As James writes; You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away; (James 4:14). And our Lord Jesus Christ could return today; Therefore be on the alert, for you do not know which day your Lord is coming. (Matthew 24:42)
What is certain that immediately following physical death or the second coming of the Lord comes judgment. For Christians it is a judgment of eternal life and magnificent rewards for faithfulness. For everyone else it is a judgment of eternal death and unspeakable suffering in hell.
Both believing Christians, as well as, unbelievers should consider this present day as our last chance as it might be. Unbelievers should heed the warning; Today. if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts.
And Christians should stay alert understanding that our opportunities to earn crowns or rewards for faithfulness and righteousness on earth could end today; In the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteousness judge, will award to me on that day; and not only me, but also to all who have loved His appearing. (Timothy 4;8)
