Throwing Pearls Before Swine
Pastor George Stroh
November 9, 2015

Do not give what is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls before swine, or they will trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces. (Matthew 7:6)

It is very frustrating to hear supposedly intelligent, well education people say such stupid things about God and His word. Sometimes I just want to yell at the TV or radio; "You fools don't know what you are talking about!"

But then I am reminded that unregenerate, non-believing people do not even have the ability to understand the things of God, let alone trust and obey His word; But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them. because they are spiritually appraised. (1 Corinthians 2:14)

As Christians, we waste our time trying to convince unbelievers to live lives consistent with a biblical world view and the wisdom of God's holy word. Jesus told His disciples that this is like giving what is holy to dogs, and throwing pearls before swine. In other words, don't waste your time trying to teach a pig to sing. You will just get frustrated and the pig will get irritated!

In order to understand, appreciate, trust and obey what the word of God teaches, you must first have the Spirit of God in you. Christians literally have the mind of Christ; But he who is spiritual appraises all things, yet he himself is appraised by no one. For who has known the mind of the Lord, that he will instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ. (1 Corinthians 2:15-16)

First, we must hear and believe the gospel of Christ. As Christians we need to set aside our frustrations with those who don't yet know Jesus Christ and boldly proclaim to them this saving gospel Message. Only when one comes to know Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, is he or she ready and able to receive God's holy pearls of wisdom. Maranatha!
