And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. (Revelation 20:15)
There have been numerous books and gospel tracks written about the marvelous joys of heaven, and rightly so. But I don't find much written (or preached for that matter) about the horrific suffering of hell. Yet the bible has more to say about hell than about heaven and we know that far more people will spend eternity in hell than those who will be in heaven; Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. (Matthew 7:13)
Yes, heaven is a wonderful place filled with glory and grace. But before anyone can know and understand the saving grace of God, they must first know and understand His coming judgment and wrath. Unforgiven sinners will spend eternity suffering in hell apart from the living God; And the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever; they have no rest day or night... (Revelation 14:11)
I have decided to suspend these weekly commentaries for a while in order to devote more time to some other writing projects. For now I leave you with both an encouraging promise and a dire warning from Jesus Christ; He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. (John 3:18) Maranatha!
