Trust and Obey

The conclusion when all has been heard, is fear God and keep His commandments, because this applies to every person. (Ecclesiastes 12:13)
I often remind our Church of what the Bible basically requires of us as believers. It can be summarized as trusting and. obeying Him. Trusting Him, of course, begins by believing the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. As believers, our trust and faith in Him continues to grow; And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him. (Hebrews 11:6)
Obedience to God and His Word is a natural response of true, faithful believers. We are to; fear God and keep His commandments. Fear God, not in the sense of being afraid of God, but in honor and reverence of Him and His Word. By faithfully keeping God's commandments as revealed in His Word, we not only worship Him, but are blessed and equipped to serve Him and minister to others; All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16)
As the old hymn reminds us;
Trust and obey, for there's no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will, He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey!
Maranatha!
