Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it. (Matthew 7:13)
Most people believe, that if there is a heaven, they will go there when they die. How often we hear someone who is trying to comfort those grieving say; "At least he or she is in a better place now." But Jesus said that there are only a few who find the way that leads to eternal life and heaven. Tragically, most people will not be in a better place. They will spend eternity in hell.
Please understand how very narrow the way is that leads to heaven. The broad road certainly looks and feels like the right way to most folks. And it is comforting knowing that so many others are the same path. There are teachers and preachers along this way, much like carnival barkers, crying out; "Right this way to heaven! Of course you are good enough! Your church attendance, baptism and other good works is all you need to get to heaven!" Jesus said that many will be on this road and enter through this gate that leads to destruction; And He will say, "I tell you, I do not know where you are from; depart from me, all you evildoers." (Luke 13:27)
The road to eternal life and heaven is narrow. This narrow road is by faith alone in the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ; For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the law. (Romans 3:28) For the wages of sin are death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23)
Before it is too late, please check the map (your Bible) and be sure that you are on the narrow and right road that leads to life. Maranatha!
