Eternal Judgment is Coming Soon
By George Stroh
December 11, 2011

According to the grace of God which was given to me, like a wise master builder I laid a foundation, and another is building on it. But each man must be careful how he builds on it.
(1 Corinthians 3:10)

What you do this day, the things you say, the places you go, even your thoughts today, have eternal consequences. Each of us will someday stand before God to be judged; So then each one of us will give an account of himself to God.
(Romans 14:12); For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. (2 Corinthians 5:10)

There is a common misconception among Christians that only unbelievers will be judged. Those who have not been saved through faith in the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ will indeed be judged. This judgment, known as the "Great White Throne" judgment, is reserved for all unbelievers; Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat upon it, from whose presence earth and heaven fled away, and no place was found for them. And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and the books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the things written in the books, according to their deeds. (Revelation 20:11,12)

All unbelievers, those whose names are not written in the book of life, will be judged at this Great White Throne judgment and all will be sentenced to an eternal hell; And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire (eternal hell). (Revelation 20:15) Although we can't even imagine the horrors of an eternal hell, some will suffer to a greater extent, based upon what they did or didn't do in this life. Those that heard about and then rejected Jesus Christ, will be judged more severely than those who never heard the gospel. And the greatest suffering is reserved for those false teachers and preachers who have not only rejected our Lord Jesus Christ, but also lead others astray.

There is a different judgment for true believers known as the "Bema Seat" judgment. Each follower of Christ will someday be judged by Him and will receive special rewards based upon the quality and quantity of their trust and obedience in this life; ...each man's work will become evident; for the day will show it because it is to be revealed with fire, and the fire itself will test the quality of each man's work. If any man's work which he has built on it remains, he will receive a reward. If any man's work is burned up, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved , yet so as through fire. (1 Corinthians 3:14,15). All those at this judgment are saved from God's wrath and will spend eternity in heaven with Jesus Christ. But some, based upon their good works (trust and obedience), will receive more of these rewards or crowns.

I am convinced that the eternal value and glory of these precious crowns far exceeds our understanding or appreciation. While we are alive in our physical bodies, we still have opportunities each day to earn more of these precious crowns; And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment. (Hebrews 9:27).What you do, what you say, where you go and even what you think this day has eternal consequences; ...Whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. (1 Corinthians 10:31) Judgment day is coming. Are you ready?
