Yesterday morning as we were preparing for our Sunday services, I noticed our friend and brother in Christ, Glen Vlieg, kneeling alone in prayer. I was once again reminded that there is no more important preparation for our Sunday worship or for any other church gathering than prayer.
Glen prays for those who are sick and hurting in our church; He prays for those who may come to church but still don't know Jesus as their Savior and Lord; He prays that our singing and worship will be pleasing to the Lord; And he prays for me that my Bible teaching and preaching will glorify the Lord and be a blessing to those who hear; ...The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much. (James 5:16)
I hope and trust we are all, like Glen, regularly and diligently praying for each other and the effective ministry of our churches. And especially praying for those who still need to hear the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ and for those Pastors and others who clearly and boldly proclaim this gospel truth.
With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit and with this in view, be on the alert with all perserverance and petition for all the saints, and pray on my behalf, that utterance may be given to me in the opening of my mouth to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel. (Ephesians 6:18-19) Maranatha!
